100_0058                        Today, the 5th, 4th, and both 1st grades went on a virtual field trip. They watched a video about Winter the dolphin, who lives in Florida. Two years ago, Winter got her tail stuck in a crab trap when she was just a baby. She was rescued, but her tail was severely injured. Winter’s tail eventually fell off, but they replaced it with a plastic tail. We interviewed Kathryn D, in 4th grade. She said her favorite part was how Winter survived after her plastic surgery. Her least favorite part  was not being able to see Winter smiling. She said that she enjoyed it, and that she thinks her class enjoyed it, too.

Panorama of the East Coast

This Jan. 29 panorama of much of the East Coast, photographed by one of the Expedition 30 crew members aboard the International Space Station, provides a look generally northeastward: Philadelphia-New York City-Boston corridor (bottom-center); western Lake Ontario shoreline with Toronto (left edge); Montreal (near center). An optical illusion in the photo makes the atmospheric limb and light activity from Aurora Borealis appear "intertwined." Image Credit: NASA
