Gold Medal Game

March 3, 2010
By

The last event of the 2010 Vancouver was probably the most anticipated of them all. The USA men’s hockey team faced off against the Canadian men’s hockey team. Going in to the 2010 games, power house Canada was the favorite to win the gold medal. In the preliminary games, team USA went 5-0, beating Canada. The Canadian team went 4-1, with their only loss coming to, of course, team USA. Both teams went through the playoff rounds with easy wins; team Canada, coming up with probably the biggest win, beating fellow power house team Russia 7-3. Canada would eventually go on to beat team USA when Pittsburgh Penguin’s center Sidney Crosby put the winning goal past USA goalie Ryan Miller. Miller, although, would go onto win the MVP award.

Panorama of the East Coast

This Jan. 29 panorama of much of the East Coast, photographed by one of the Expedition 30 crew members aboard the International Space Station, provides a look generally northeastward: Philadelphia-New York City-Boston corridor (bottom-center); western Lake Ontario shoreline with Toronto (left edge); Montreal (near center). An optical illusion in the photo makes the atmospheric limb and light activity from Aurora Borealis appear "intertwined." Image Credit: NASA
