Pittsburgh Penguins Update

The Pittsburgh Penguins won their first game back from the Olympics beating the Sabres 3-2. The Penguins have made a trade with the Florida Panthers giving away a second round draft pick for Jordan Leopold. He is a new defenseman for the Penguins playing in number 4.

At the end of the 2010 Winter Olympics, the United States had 37 medals. Those medals were: 9 Gold, 15 Silver, and 13 Bronze. Germany followed with 30 and Canada with 26.

The Boy’s varsity and junior varsity teams have both advanced in the playoffs. The varsity team plays Saturday, March 6th, against MQA at 4:00, at Greensburg Central Catholic. MQA has beaten the varsity team twice this year. The junior varsity black team plays Friday March 5th, against Aquinas Academy, starting time: 6:30, at Geibel.

Pittsburgh Panthers Basketball

The Pitt Panthers have gone 3-1 since February 12th.  Their wins coming against Marquette, third ranked Villanova, and St. John’s. The Panthers only loss came against Notre Dame. They have two games left until the Big East Tournament. They play against Providence on March 3rd and Rutgers on March 6th.

The Pittsburgh Pirates started spring training today, facing the New York Yankees. Hopefully the Pirates can get off to a good start against the Yanks. The Pirates are very optimistic about this season coming in with good players. Hopefully the Pirates do well.

Its time for the book fair, so bring some money and buy some books. The book fair features adventure, drama, history, and mystery books. You will be sure to find a book of your interest at the book fair. Today Mr. Mouse walked around to visit the younger kids during there lunch.

The Bishop is Coming!!

The Bishop is coming this Friday to visit our school. The 5th and 6th grade and  the chorus are going to be singing with the Bishop, also he will be eating lunch with a student from each grade. So, be on your best behavior and use your manners. We all want to impress the Bishop!!!!

Jump Rope for Heart!

Jump Rope for Heart started this week. This year’s different jump rope activities are:

Single Rope (Jumping with one rope)
Double Rope (Jumping with two ropes)
Long Jump
Hula-Hoop
Lay-Ups & Jump-roping
Dribbling & Jump-roping

Long Jump and Single Rope were for a record.  Do you think your class can raise the most money?
