Women in Science Assembly

April 14, 2010

On Tuesday April 13th, a couple of students from CAL U came in to give a science presentation to the students in grades 6, 7, and 8. They showed us a couple of really cool experiments. Their main focus though was to give us some insight on different careers in science. They told us the different kinds of sciences there are. As they told us each type they also told us what careers go with that science. I would like to become a pediatrician, and they helped show me different things in biology and chemistry to help me.

CarnegieScienceCenter_250

On Monday, a representative from the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh came to our school to talk about weather. During her visit, we all played a game in teams, where we had to move across the video board and answer questions about tornados and other storms. She also showed us a “shocking” demonstration about lightning, and told us how to be safe in a storm. We hope she comes to visit again!
